Our Vision, Aims and Ethos
OUR VISION
“Be the best version of yourself: enjoy and achieve”
Our vision is for all our pupils to be the best version of themselves and, supported by our values-based curriculum, to ensure that they enjoy learning and leave our school as confident, capable young people who know they have the knowledge and skills to make a positive difference in the world.
OUR AIMS
To promote enjoyment and achievement by ensuring all pupils experience a broad, ambitious curriculum built around topics, activities and experiences which engage and excite them.
To foster curiosity and a love of learning.
To embrace and celebrate individuality and diversity.
To embed inclusivity by supporting all our pupils to access the full curriculum and participate in the wider life of our school.
To recognise and celebrate the achievements of all our pupils.
To provide opportunities for our pupils to be active citizens who contribute positively to our school, our community and the local and national environment.
To engage ‘pupil voice’ in decision making and empower our pupils to bring about positive change.
To prepare our pupils for the next phase in their education and life.
OUR ETHOS
Garway School is recognised for its very caring, inclusive ethos and a whole school commitment to Values-based education (VbE), which permeates every aspect of school life: we ‘live and breathe our values’.
Our school is outstanding in promoting internationally held ‘human values’ and the fundamental British values of: Democracy; the Rule of Law; Individual Liberty; and Mutual Respect for, and Tolerance of, those with different faiths and beliefs. Our school and pre-school both hold the international Values-based Education Quality Mark.
As a small school, we know our children very well, value them as unique individuals and have a culture of high expectations for them all. We support our pupils in developing a ‘Growth mindset’ to enable them to tackle challenges with resilience and determination.
Relationships among staff and pupils, and between our school and the local community, are strong and based upon good communication and collaboration
